A London Walk with Luke M Walker | DegreeArt.com The Original Online Art Gallery

Artist Luke M Walker invites you to join him on a data gatherting walk on Saturday 23 February. Luke envisages a 1-1.5 hour walk along the Southbank to London Bridge, crossing it, walking up to the base of the Monument and then walking back up to Tower Bridge before looping back along the Southbank, via City Hall, down the side of Southwark Cathedral, past the Globe, Tate Modern and back to the hotel. The loop is about 3 miles in total. He'll talk a little about walking from an Artist's perspective and look at a few of the paintings he made along this route. You can also colate your own data and hunt for 'found notes' to add to the artist's growing collection.

Luke M Walker’s art derives from his own explorations of the environment, primarily through walking. His most recent art involves collecting specific data on each walk and then translating his findings and data into paintings. These paintings depict not only the activity of walking and painting, but also explore concepts of time and distance. It is these spatial, temporal, and mobile qualities of his work that make Luke M Walker’s work perfect for Bankside. Each body of his work questions the value of human activity, human stewardship of the environment, the role of the artist as a witness, and how these things can be expressed and explored.
