Bryn Sutcliffe

Staffordshire University (BA Fine Art (Hons) , 2012)

A graduate of Staffordshire University in fine art, Bryn Sutcliffe's art is mainly rendered in paint, as this is and always has been his preference, however he also enjoys drawing and has a large portfolio of nudes, legendary icons etc. He enjoys portraiture using paint, pastel, pencil, chalk and charcoal.  As well as intricate 'lifelike' portraits, he also enjoys a more contemporary style of work using distinctive mark making with a looser, freer feel.

On his art, Bryn Sutcliffe says..

Elizabeth Picton

University of Wales Institute Cardiff (BA Hons Fine Art, 2009 , 2012)

The impetus for making art work usually emerges during my daily walk in the natural landscape, where I experience a strong sensation of unity with the world.

I make observations of natural phenomena such as light, archetypal form or the intrinsic geometrical order, rhythm & impermanence in nature.

Over a period of time these perceptions gestate and become intertwined with other memories or subtle influences from my daily life. My art practice is an attempt to meditate upon the inherent symbolism and interconnected nature of my environment.

I produce figurative paintings of simplicity and purity unhindered by concept and rhetoric.

Maja Beattie

Bath Spa University (BA Honours in Fine Art , 2010)

Maja Beattie is an Oxfordshire based artist who's work documents the society that surrounds her. Heavily influenced by her time living in Bristol and the festival culture Beattie has an innate fascination of people.  Her subject matter surrounds portraiture and traces of human behaviour on society's landscape. Using multi-layered, oil painted surfaces Beattie creates an eerie depth within the traditional confines of portraiture. Heavily saturated tones mirror the energy of the youths painted, while cultural references such as street art, fashion and music infiltrate the images.

Jean-Pierre Roffi

Wimbledon College of Art (BA(Hons) Painting , 2012)

My work is an exploration of human behaviour, not direcly from life, but through available contemporary media such as films, digital imagery (Internet screen shots, computer games, scanned magazines, newspapers photos, etc.). These found  images often convey a straightforward message which I would qualify as "prêt à consommer" (ready to consume). I then transform them, blurring their initial meaning in order to propose alternative narratives allowing the viewer to revisit our social habits and history from different perspectives.

George Llewellyn Williams

London Metropolitan University (BA Hons Fine Art, 2008 , 2008)

George Williams, born in Abergavenny and educated at the London Metropolitan University, is an artist currently residing and working in Oxfordshire.

Sophie Derrick

Leeds University (BA Hons Fine Art , 2008)

Sophie Derrick's work very much focuses on portraiture, but with the use of both painting and photography this genre is skewed and manipulated, and the transformative properties of paint are pushed to the limit. She photographs the act of painting onto her own skin and then paints on top of the photographs, creating a layering of image of paint and painted image, blurring the boundaries between the two. The 'self' is lost, buried beneath the paint, and the notion of portraiture is questioned. The body becomes both object and subject within Sophie Derrick's work.

Paz Perlman

Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design (BA Fine Art , 2015)

My art reflects the universal desire to make sense of the world around us and our place within it.

I feel compelled to grapple with the unconscious forces within and to manifest them in abstract forms. In that manner, I see art as a mirror reflecting from the inside out.Having originally trained and worked internationally as an instructor in dance, tai chi and yoga, I draw upon my understanding of movement to inform my practice and am fascinated by the challenge to bring matter to life.

Thomas Campbell

Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design (BA Hons Fine Art, 2010 , 2010)

Recently graduated from Central Saint Martin's School of Art, I now live and work in Twickenham.

All the Paintings revolve around ideas surrounding Gravity, Love, Death and the Carbon cycle.

The current series Whenever You Breathe Out, I Breathe In is an ongoing set of paintings looking at the connotations of Ballet alongside a painting application that further pushes the concerns of the practice to create a symbiotic relationship between form and content.

Thomas is a Contemporary Collective Artist
