FLUX: TEMPORAL SUSPENSE ANNA MASTERS + HARRIET HORTON | DegreeArt.com The Original Online Art Gallery

JOIN US: OPENING NIGHT 3RD DECEMBER 2015 6-9PM

A collaborative exhibition by artists Anna Masters and Harriet Horton. Through their collective mediums of entomology, organic materials, taxidermy and neon lighting, the artists explore the precarious intersection between life and death, between possible pasts and unknown futures.

Their combined works employ form, space and time to create a sense of motion, alluding to the inevitability of change through their static, unmoving subjects and the uncanny preservation of the 'now'.

Harriet Horton is a 28 year old artist living in London. Known for her contemporary take on taxidermy, she gives a playful narrative to a medium that sometimes holds a macabre association. Applying neon lighting to her work has become her signature style.

Anna Masters is a mixed-media artist whose practice incorporates wall-based pieces, three-dimensional works and site-specific installations. Creating complex and incredibly delicate compositions of natural and found materials, Anna’s work is characterised by the way the materials appear to float mid-air, creating a sense of an inexplicable moment, frozen in time. The materials she employs – predominantly natural, found or recycled materials – expose Anna’s love of form and attraction to detail. Both the materials, and the dedicated layering of the compositions, create a sense of the tactile and the ephemeral, which becomes almost immersive the closer you look.

Anna’s quiet, contemplative work embraces both the beauty of the world and the nuances of our relationships with it. The result is a portfolio that is visually captivating, rewarding close observation with an enviable level of detail and subtlety.
