"In her book 'A Short History of Myth' the author, Karen Armstrong, writes that "In art, liberated from the constraints of reason and logic, we conceive and combine new forms that enrich our lives and which, we believe, tell us something important and profoundly 'true'." It is this liberated approach to art and creation that is on the surface in childhood but later becomes constrained by 'reason and logic' as we attain adulthood. For each of us, studying Fine Art over the past few years has been a process of digging below the crust of reason and the plain of logic to again acquire that childhood liberation which lies 'Beneath the Surface' of our adult lives." Sixteen BA Fine Art students of Greenwich University, based at Tonbridge's K College campus, are staging two exhibitions of their final degree work at K College, 28th June- 2 July and in Vyner Streets' Degree Art Execution Room 6th - 10th July.
The title of the show, 'Beneath The Surface', reflects the artist's striving to scratch away at the accepted conformities of modern life.
The timing of the venue takes advantage of the London art scene's first Thursday of the month tradition, when galleries throng with visitors until nine in the evening and coincides with the private view.
