Introducing Contemporary Collective x Bankside Hotel's Winter Residency ft. Yuliya Martynova

Bankside Hotel x DA Gallery are delighted to welcome painter Yuliya Martynova as our Winter Artist in Residence. Based in Berkshire and originally from Kazakhstan, Yuliya is a multidisciplinary artist celebrated for her luminous, cloud-like compositions that explore emotion, energy and balance through colour and movement.
Marking the 10-year anniversary of her career as a full-time artist, Yuliya’s residency, titled La Femme Nuage (The Cloud Woman), continues her exploration of female identity and the natural world. Through fluid layers of paint and feather-like brushstrokes, she captures the essence of femininity as both powerful and ethereal, a force of nature that is at once temperamental, bright and overwhelming in its beauty.
During her time in residence, Yuliya will transform the glass-fronted Art Yard Studio into a living artwork where guests can observe her process firsthand as she creates a new body of work inspired by London’s winter skies and the energy of the city. The series will culminate in a final showcase celebrating women across key industries including art, fashion, politics, finance, law and technology.
In celebration of the festive season, Yuliya will also collaborate with Bankside Hotel and Art Yard Bar & Kitchen to bring her distinctive aesthetic into the heart of the hotel’s Christmas experience. She will design and hand-paint a collection of bespoke holiday decorations and partner with the restaurant team to co-curate a signature festive cocktail inspired by her palette and practice. Each cocktail will be served in individually hand-finished glasses, painted by the artist using her signature technique, turning every sip into a small act of art appreciation.

About Yuliya:
Yuliya Martynova is a multidisciplinary painter born in Kazakhstan who have been living in the UK in the past 20 years. She was taught classical arts and trained as a lawyer in prestigious schools both in Kazakhstan and the UK. After spending 15 years in the corporate world, she one day gave up the office in favor of becoming a full time artist. Quickly recognized by online art curators, Yuliya participated in many art fairs and is now represented by few London galleries. Yuliya's collections are characterized by an elegant flow and ethereal glow, exploring themes of fragility and strength in her skyscapes, the isolation of the sea in her dreamy sailboat series, urban dynamics in her Connected works on paper, and the cyclical nature of florals in her Blossom collection. Each piece invites viewers into a dreamy elemental realm, evoking a sense of light nostalgia with its weightless emotions.
