Archie works as a traditional sign painter, creating bespoke lettering on a commissioned basis for a variety of independent businesses. He uses these techniques, especially the practice of reverse-glass gilding in creation of his artwork which explores the weight of individual words. By isolating them from their context with other words he examines our emotional response to them, as well as the physical interplay and geometry of the letterforms themselves.
