We’re delighted to share that DegreeArt and our ongoing Summer of Sculpture residency at Bankside Hotel have been featured in City A.M in their recent article “Why Wealthy Travellers Pay to Be Around Good Art.”
Journalist Adam Bloodworth recently visited the Bankside Hotel on London's Southbank and has writtten a brilliant piece exploring how artist residencies can reshape the hotel experience. Increasingly, luxury hotels are seeking to integrate art into their spaces, giving guests the chance to engage with artists and their work more directly but, it requires a true partnership approach between the hotel, staff, gallery, artists and wider community.

The piece explores the growing appeal of artist-in-residence programmes within luxury hotels, highlighting how these initiatives offer guests unique cultural experiences and give artists a platform to create and share their work. Our collaboration with Bankside Hotel is a shining example of this- transforming the hotel into a living gallery space, from its dedicated gallery to exhibitions that extend throughout its public areas. The article features painter Georgi Morrison, this year’s artist-in-residence, whose work is currently on view as part of Summer of Sculpture. We’re proud to see DegreeArt’s commitment to supporting artists and connecting them with new audiences recognised in this way, and we extend our thanks to City A.M. for shining a light on the value of art-driven experiences in hospitality.
