ARTIST’S STATEMENT 2009
My practice is stone carving and working with clay, making abstract organic forms that are connected with nature and the body. I like working the stone and clay by hand and provoking the viewer to touch the material and have a sense of it. The pieces are sometimes placed in installations with light projections of photographs which expand the narrative.The digital light projection creates large-scale images that fill the entire room, they are illusory representations of nature and light. For this year's prize I am showing One Two, a piece of work about Intimacy.In this case I worked in clay and had the piece cast in bronze resin.
