This painting of a bar scene is created in a style I have dubbed 'Stencilism' which reproduces the bold architectural and shadow elements of my earlier work in cut out motifs against an abstract backdrop of intense and vibrant colours. Through this juxtaposition of two styles; one neat and meticulous and the other frenzied and expressive, I am trying to represent extreme emotional sensations in terms of acknowledging both the positive and negative energies of life and how they inform our view of the world around us. The ideal of his work is to show everyday life as a sometimes twisted and gnarled yet sometimes beautiful representation of the physical world seen through the eyes of raw emotion as well as an object of pure physicality.
