As part of the Totally Thames Festival 2024 and in collaboration with the Bankside Hotel, join us for an opportunity to walk with Artist Luke M Walker along the banks of the River Thames to see how the Riverscape has inspired his practice. Luke has been making work in and around the river for many years, documenting changes and its ebbs and flows. He will show some of the significant landmarks and share stories behind them.
Before or after the walk, attendees are welcome to take a look at 'The Bankside Panorama', (a six panelled work in Charcoal created by Luke M Walker over the course of 7 weeks as Artist in Residence at Bankside Hotel in the Spring of 2023), which is on display at the Art Yard Makers Studio from 27th Aug - 8th Sep 2024. Important Information:
Location: The start and end point for the walk is the Art Yard Makers Studio, at the Bankside Hotel. You can access the studio via the Courtyard just to the left of the hotel and follow the signs to the Art Yard Makers Studio.
Accessibility: The walk is open to anyone able to walk unaided for 3/4 miles, for 2-3 hours. There will be opportunities to stop for refreshments, but good footwear and weather appropriate clothing is recommended. Participants can also break off at Tower Bridge or London Bridge Stations if they don’t want to complete the whole circuit. The walk will not include any of the foreshore and will stick to paved areas only. There may be some steps to access certain viewing points and to cross the bridges.
