This piece is a direct impression from an octopus that was given to me in May of 2022 by my local fishmonger. The octopus is inked up using an acrylic screen printing ink and then a piece of Thai mulberry paper has been skillfully pressed against the surface of the octopus. When dry, the print is then wet mounted using the original urauchi method. This is where a second sheet of paper, in this case a Chinese washi is adhered to the back of the print using only a wheat paste which I make myself. The wet print is then left on a flat surface to dry flat.
