Digital print on archival paper with overlying oil paint Mounted on Dibond Clashing colours that somehow work together has become a big part of my artwork, abstracting the face underneath the paint, and taking another step further away from traditional portraiture. RAD combines the extreme brightness of geranium lake pink and a purpley magenta, with the comparative dullness of the yellow ochre, and creates a rosy and bright image. My mother is called Rosie and RAD are her initials, so this piece is named after her. RAD also has connotations of 'radical' which was a well used phrase in the 90's by the cool kids, and I like this connection to the 90's as it is suddenly cool and 'vintage'.
