This artwork is part of Quaresima"s latest series of drawing made to reflect on the power of gesture and body language to express strong emotions and feelings. This drawing in particular is very dear tot he artist, as a result of a personal experience: the diagnostic surgery she underwent had a huge impact on her, and it made her reflect on the human fragility, and on the women's vulnerability in particular. The hands in this case are depicted clutched together, as they are trying to protect her wound, in a physical and psychological way. Everything else around the hands is fading away, but it's the emphasis on the gesture and the hands' tangled veins and nerves that want to give the viewer a glimpse of the tension, the torment of the unknown and the attempt to heal and comfort her body and her soul.
