My name is Barry haskins im 56 years old ive been painting since 1991 when I undertook an evening class in acrylic painting under a teacher called Lawrence noga he encouraged me a lot and suggested doing A level which i did and then went on to foundation at Chelsea Art college which I gained .I then was accepted for Wimbledon School of Art( as it was called then) for a BA Hons degree.I gained this certificate and then had ten years of practice with a number of shows including Europa gallery sutton and Guildhall,guildford.This led to my entrance into my MA 2011 and then graduated last year 2013.My work is figurative paintings featuring people in them I use oil and acrylic they are a type of Social Realism although im not championing the poor necessarily like the original Social Realism painters but i paint everyday life as i encounter it but recently i have been trawling through newspapers in order to use found photographs and I use my own system of what I call transformation and combination whereby I combine two or three different imges to create a further narrative.I work from photographs because i want my work to be accurate and easily understood by anyone who sees it im not keen on work that  makes you scratch your head in bafflement.Although in saying this i like to make my paintings quite vivid and full of light butin winter my work can be more duller and moodier then when springtime comes the daylight excites me and strong light effects will appear in my work.To sum up my work simply as possible they are Urban narratives but can sometimes edge onto portraiture.
