THE LAUNCH OF LOCKED + LOADED

Contemporary Collective

There have been many silver linings amongst the unexpected new challenges faced in 2020. On Thursday we 'virtually launched' our first exhibition since lockdown celebrating the pure, multifaceted and creative responses this period has enabled.

To accompany the exhibition, we present you with the first access to our Locked + Loaded catalogue, a celebration of the artwork that has been created by 48 of our artists during this historical moment, the lockdown of 2020.

Some of these artworks have never been seen outside of the studio before and you now have the first access view and opportunity to collect these paintings, photographs and sculptures. Click on the piece that catches your eye in the catalogue to see more information and to purchase via the website.

Exhibiting artists, from all over the world, joined our group video call for the launch on Thursday and shared their experience and ambitions for the future.

You can listen to the audio recording and discover all of the artists in our catalogue which includes quotes from the exhibiting artists about how their creative practice has been influenced and impacted - more often than not, for the better.

We hope you enjoy this 'Virtual Exhibition'. Best wishes to you from all the team.

MEET THE ARTIST

1) Which art movement do you consider most influential on your practice?

Abstract Expressionism.

2) Where do you go and when to make your best art?

My best art always comes from committing to regular time in my art studio. In the studio I can focus without any distractions, and do all the prep work for painting outside. Painting outside, or ‘en plein air’, is where I actually do most of my painting and drawing. This is where I think I make my best art, and I do this all year round, in almost any weather!

3) How do you describe your 'creative process'?

A crucial part of my creative process is seeing art and reading about art really regularly. I then process everything I’ve seen or read about by writing on my blog, making sculptures and painting outside. I’ll evaluate what I’ve made through writing, and then repeat the whole process.
