Materials:
This work is more of a wall-mounted sculpture than it is a painting. Using acrylic molding paste, acrylic paint, PLA 3D printing, magnets, and over 350 sheets of gold leaf. Using traditional sculpting tools, palette knives, and a wide variety of modified trowels to achieve the groves pattern you see across the entire surface of the work. After weeks of modeling paste applications, I applied layers of gold leaf to create an imperfect gold surface that covers the whole work. I preplanned to allow for 3d printed squares to be placed in different locations across the surface of the work. All the blank squares on the canvas have magnets attached to the back of the canvas to allow its owner to move the gold cubes around to a few locations across the work.
