Global Cultures: Meet the Artist | Linda Clerget

As part of Global Cultures: A Visual Journey, we're shining a light on the artists who are not only creating beautiful work- but inviting us into the hearts of their worlds. Through this series, we explore how each artist navigates ideas of place, identity, and transforamtion through their unique visual language.

In this edition we weclome Linda Clerget, a French artist whose dreamy, lyrical paintings are rooted in her deep connection to nature. Working primarily from her studio in Tamri, Linda draws inspiration from the Fontainbleau forest- a landscape she sees as both sanctuary and muse. Through delicate brushwork and layered acrylics, her work invites viewers into an ethereal space where the seen and unseen dance in harmony.

"I painted with light and fluid brushstrokes to convey a sense of movement, as if the fairies might appear-or vanish- at any moment. They represent the unseen energies that move through nature-- a reminder of the hidden beauty and balance all around us."

On Sacred Spaces in Nature

The Fontainebleau forest is a sacred place for me—a kind of natural temple where I go to meditate and reconnect with both nature and myself. In the studio, I used acrylics on canvas, applying thin, transparent layers to recreate the dreamy atmosphere I love. My brushstrokes are light and fluid, intended to evoke a sense of movement—as if fairies might appear or disappear at any moment. This painting is deeply personal. It reflects my inner journey during those forest walks, which for me are a form of sacred meditation—a way to be fully present and open to the magic of the world.

The fairies in this piece symbolize the unseen energies of nature, reminding us of the hidden beauty and delicate balance all around us. The interplay of light and shadow represents renewal and transformation, while the forest stands as a refuge, a place where life and mystery meet.”

On the Grace of Seasonal Transitions:

"I created End of Summer, Fontainebleau in my Tamri studio, inspired by the peaceful rhythms of the Fontainebleau forest- Fontainebleau is like a sacred sanctuary for me- a daily source of inspiration, serenity, and reflection. I wanted to share those quiet moments when nature's cycles feel profoundly moving.

Symbolically, the interplay of light and shadow speaks to the changing seasons and the passage of time. The forest becomes a place of transformation and renewal, gently reminding us of life's natural flow. I hope this painting brings you a sense of tranquility and invites reflection on nature's graceful transitions."

On Fairies and the Unseen World:

“In the studio, I used acrylics on canvas, applying thin, transparent layers to recreate the dreamy atmosphere I love. I painted with light and fluid brushstrokes to convey a sense of movement, as if the fairies might appear—or vanish—at any moment.

As for the symbolism, the fairies represent the unseen energies that move through nature. They are reminders of the hidden beauty and balance that exist all around us. The interplay of light and shadow symbolizes renewal and transformation, while the forest itself stands as a refuge—a space where life and mystery meet.”
