Freddy Paske is a widely acclaimed wildlife and equestrian artist most commonly known for his work with racehorses. His talents were recognised from an early age and, after a number of years spent serving in the British Army, he committed himself to painting full-time.
'It is impossible for our eyes to act like a camera and translate every detail they see in an instant. It is up to our mind to fill the relevant gaps and construct what we see. As we grow older we become more familiar with our surroundings and unconsciously ‘see’ less. Freddy likes to explore this relationship between the eye and the mind by playing with what is seen and not seen. His use of bold shapes and colours suggest details rather than depicting them. By reconstructing his subjects using deliberately loose gestures, pigments and textures Freddy engages the mind in a playful interpretation of the familiar'.
